International Call to Artists | UNIMAGINABLE
Art From Genocides All Over The World
Six Week Exhibition and Events Programme in Autumn 2026
P21 Gallery and Az Theatre are inviting artists, individuals and collectives, working in all media - including performance, actions and events - to submit proposals for the presentation of their work.
On Genocide:
‘the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of a racial, political, national, ethnic, religious or cultural group’
Throughout history, and in the present day, genocides have common features: the perpetrators are usually nation-states, they consist of stigmatisation, harassment, isolation, disappearances, humiliation, de-humanisation, displacement, concentration in camps, systematic weakening, and mass murder. They are accompanied, and followed by, denial.
How have artists responded to these processes? How do they respond?
All artists from everywhere are eligible.
We want to make an archive of the responses to our appeal.
Our exhibition and events programme will be curated in consultation with advisers and be led by artists
