A Talk with ICAHD's Director Jeff Halper & Film screening of "Sumud: Rooted in the West Bank" & a tour of Dr Gil Mualem-Doron exhibition "From the Dust to the Door"
Dr Jeff Halper, director of The International Committee Against House Demolition [ICHAD] will talk about the destruction of Palestinian homes, villages and towns since 1948 to today in pursuit of Ethnic cleansing of historical Palestine. The talk will be followed by the Film screening of "Sumud: Rooted in the West Bank" by the filmmakers Bruno Sorrentino & Uri Fruchtmann. The talk and the screening will be followed by a Q&A, chaired by Dr Yael Friedman, Associate Head of Research & Innovation, School of Film, Media and Creative Technologies. Before the talk, the artist Dr Gil Mualem-Doron will take visitors on a short gallery tour through the exhibition "From the Dust to the Door," which traces the fragile thresholds of displacement and belonging, weaving together histories that linger in the spaces we overlook.

Dr Jeff Halper: Jeff Halper is an American-born Israeli anthropologist, writer, and human rights activist, best known as Director of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) and a long-time critic of occupation policies. He has authored several books on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and advocates non-violent strategies for justice and equality.
Bruno Sorrentino: Bruno Sorrentino is a UK-based award-winning documentary filmmaker and cinematographer with over 25 years of experience crafting socially engaged and internationally broadcast films. His work spans investigative current affairs, environmental and human stories, including the documentary Rooted in the West Bank.
Uri Fruchtmann: Uri Fruchtmann is an Israeli-born film producer, director, and human rights advocate who has worked on both mainstream feature films and conflict-focused documentaries. He co-founded the production company Fragile Films and the charity Videre Est Credere, supporting visual documentation of human rights abuses.
Dr Yael Friedman: Yael Friedman is a film studies academic and Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth, specialising in documentary practice, transnational cinema, and politically engaged screen culture. Her research explores cinema in the Middle East, including narratives of migration, identity, and conflict.
Dr Gil Mualem-Doron is an award-winning transdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work investigates migration, identity, and the politics of place through socially engaged and participatory practices. His projects have been widely exhibited across the UK—including at Tate Modern, the People’s History Museum (Manchester), the Jewish Museum London, and Turner Contemporary—as well as internationally throughout Europe, Israel–Palestine, South Africa, and Brazil.
